Outbound Students
OUTLINE OF THE PROGRAM
Length of Stay: One academic year, approx. August – June (attend school in Host country). Possible extension if opting for a Rotary-organized end of school tour. District 5160 also sponsors summer Short Term Exchanges with different rules, costs and standards.
Age Requirement: Student must be between 151/2 – 181/2 years at time of departure (Aug 2026)
Language Proficiency: Not all students are proficient in the language of the country where they do their exchange.
Activities This is a STUDENT exchange, not a tourist experience. On Exchange all Rotary students attend high school in their Host country and are required remain in good academic standing. Participants can travel only with Host Rotary Club and Family approval and on Rotary sponsored tours.
Once you are accepted as Outbound student, District 5160 will send you and your family a manual with details about the key features of the adventure you are about to embark on. Among the most important are the Six Bs
THE APPLICATION PROCESS
Applications for the 2026/27 school year open at the beginning of August 2025. Access to our Application Portal goes through our District website: https://rotary5160.org/rotaryyouth-exchange/.
The website also offers general information about our particular Youth Exchange program. Applications have two parts.
