Service at Forest Home Farms

Area of Focus: Environment, Preserving History / Building Community

Lead Club Name: Dougherty Valley

Lead Rotarian: Scott Gerbert

Year: 2022-23

Project Budget: None

DDF Grant Amount:

As part of our agreement with the City of San Ramon, where the Dougherty Valley San Ramon Rotary Club is allowed to hold meetings at Forest Home Farms, the club engages in service projects on the farm a few times throughout the year. On Saturday, December 16 2023, Scott, Lynnette, Varma and Rene, along with 16 local Interact students (a few left prior to the photo being taken) and Heather’s husband (Conor) and children, helped City Staff to take down the holiday decorations in/around the farm and the Boone house at the farm. The team also got their hands dirty in the garden on the farm. It was a great 2-hour project, where Rotarians and Interact students worked side-by-side, as equals, to make a difference locally and keep a historic landmark beautiful.

Community Service brings the community together. Serving at Forest Home Farms, gives us an opportunity to learn from the past and share information with the future generation.
