Whiskeytown Environmental School Community exists to support education through immersive outdoor experiences for learners at Whiskeytown Environmental School (WES), nature camp. Founded in 2012, Whiskeytown Environmental School Community (WES Community) that supports the outdoor education and science mission of Whiskeytown Environmental School (WES). The 2018 Carr Fire burned facilities at the school and closed the site. As a result, the community is working together to rebuild of WES. Redding East Rotary wants to focus on rebuilding the outdoor Amphitheatre. We are all passionate supporters of outdoor education! Anecdotal feedback from students, teachers, and parents, as well as research support the effectiveness of outdoor education in learning the scientific principles that govern our environment and for the development of students™ social and emotional skills. The Amphitheatre is the priority that makes the biggest difference, right now for each student participation. Plus, Rotary Club members from multiple clubs could roll up their/our sleeves, working side by side to make it happen. We look forward to returning to the spot of our May 12, 2021 RER meeting with the entire Club (and all the participating Clubs) enjoying a reimagined, redesigned and renewed area….. dedicating the space to future generations on behalf of Rotary.
