The Rotary Club of Solano Sunset’s Rotary Pandemic Groceries Delivery Project, currently funded by a 2020-21 District 5160 joint grant “Rotary Feeds Families” with the Fairfield-Suisun Rotary Club, will complete its objectives and will have spent its grant by the end of June 2021. It serves clients in Vallejo and southern Solano County through delivery of groceries to the homes of persons in need. Working with Fighting Back Partnership and Florence Douglas Senior Center, and the Grocery Outlet on Admiral Callaghan Lane, we identify families and individuals in a state of food insecurity, who have “fallen between the cracks”, in need of food, and / or moral support. In the past 12 months, these deliveries have included isolated seniors, pregnant young women, and mothers emerging from a life on the street in addiction to accept help, homeless persons, and others with food insecurity. The program has been a great help to our community during a time of need, and has helped sustain our Club during the pandemic.
