Congrats Rotary Club of Chico Sunrise! 👏🏼Last week, we enjoyed a visit from 5160's District Governor for 2024-25. Dan, who is from Danville, did not grow up in a Rotary household, yet after he joined Rotary, his father, his sister and his business partner have all joined Rotary and taken leadership roles too. Dan has been club president, assistant governor three times as well as member chair and other district duties.In today's program, he spoke of RI President Stephanie Urchick's theme “The Magic of Rotary” and the inspiration for the theme. She was working on a water project in the Dominican Republic which turned dirty water clean, resulting in a local boy asking her to do more Magic...and that is the work of Rotary.Dan also presented Aaron Souza a check for $15,000 from the District Grant Aaron applied for. Dan shared some of our achievements and awarded Susie Sorenson (shown here) for her participation in the club and gave her a local beer from his home town. He then shared various resources available to us and the dates of opportunities for district events:2/1/25 Grant Training Day2/4/25 Virtual meeting for 5160 to hear and speak to Stephanie Urchick5/2-5/4 District Conference at San Ramon Marriott6/21 RI International Conference in Calgary, CanadaDan then finished with the auction of a basket for the benefit going to the Wheelchair Foundation, a rotary connected group that provides chairs for countries in need. The basket was donated by Corning Rotary, was huge and contained a lot of booze. Karen was the auction winner with final bid of $450.
