ZoeHello, my name is Zoe. I am an exchange student from Argentina. I am 16 years old and I live in a little town called Villa La Angostura. Exactly, I don’t have a Rotary in my town that represents me now, because it separated a little time before I came here. But anyways it was a small club when I live, with around 25 people there and we met every Tuesday at 8pm for talk about what we could to do in Villa. L. Angostura. We made shows to donated money and helped a lot of to disabled children and we donated books for a library in a little middle school in a poor neighborhood. Sebastian Leguizamon, he was, or is my counselor. He sometimes helps me to many things. My school when I live is very small than my school here, and with the teachers we can speak and they are more effective. We see the school manager every day in the formation to begin the school day, when we meet in the gym to hoist the flag. We don’t have homework every day with all the subjects; we just have hw when it is a project or an important thing we need to do exercise for study. We don’t have to change our class; different teacher comes to our room. I prefer the school here because has more activities to do and it is bigger, the requirement is almost the same. When I came here, my first thought about USA was “Wow, maybe it is true, is like in the movies”, or what the people eat here, lots of fast food and old the street is clean and I didn’t see poor or dirty people. I think for one part it is true, it is like in the movies, because the people here is more distant than in my country, and in the school in the first time, is difficult to make friends and the adolescents speaks the same thinks in the movies I watch. Is totally true when I say the people eat fast food, but no old people eat fast bad food. With the side to the dirty people and the streets, I think it is because when I live here is very nice, I love it, but if you go to another place, like everywhere, there are dirty streets and poor people, may be less than other countries. Before go back to my country, I really want to put to test all my challenges. Know how I can live with all kinds of people and learn to adapt forever the life give me, can to be separate with my family and no need them, to be independent in anywhere and situations I am, know a lot of people, have friends and they know my culture and me, learn the language, the culture here and forever I can learn here than is different in my country, learn to take responsibilities, approve my school year, just enjoy and take all my experience here. When I finish my high school, I want to study medicine in the best university in my country and then may be come here or somewhere to do another graduate, this is my first ambition. After study I want to go Africa and help people there. When I ready, I want to married with someone I love and have children, but I don’t want to do this early. First to be mom, I want to travel around the world, but no only for holidays, I want to may be live somewhere, working to be doctor and helping people in different countries. I hope I will can to do my dreams and have a great and productive life. I don’t want to be depressive women or live in my country old of my life doing the same thing. I want to know and do other things, to be happy and always being discreet with regard myself and respect the others. I think this exchange year is going to help me a lot of in my life. To help me to be totally independent, to know how travel around the world and to know how to live what I touch in my life, can resolve my problems and found something when I really want, to learn speak and understand the people and to polish my personality with the future. If old people do this exchange year than me and another exchange students, my opinion is yes, is going to help a lot of to distribute international peace in the world, because each person will know about another cultures and is going to help a lot of to the people understand the others. If we, the exchange students speak about our culture and encourage to the other kids to do the same, is going to help a lot of to Rotary International and the world. The people only should to open your mind. |
