Willows Jumps Seven

rotary700It was a crowded but proud Willows Rotary Club meeting on July 23 when the Club of  twenty five (25) members  inducted seven (7) new members into their ranks. President David Vodden and Secretary Dee Ann Tripp presided over the ceremonies as Terry Taylor, Carl Walter, Phillip Diehl,  Sheryl Thur, Mike Cammarano, Roger Kumar and Steve Vanderpan were all sworn in as the nations newest Rotarians.  The instant 28% growth in the Club reaching thirty two members was a big leap forward toward their goal, established in the Rotary Visioning plan, to have thirty five (35) members by the end of the Rotary year 2010. “We are very pleased with this infusion of new energy, enthusiasm and support for the mission of Rotary,” Vodden said. “I am very optimistic that we will meet our goal of thirty five members and that we will be able to retain a good many of our current membership in meeting that goal”.

The new members represented a wide range of classifications with Taylor coming from the recreation and political arena. Carl is a Willows police officer. Phillip represents Tri Counties bank. Sheryl is the Glenn County Tax Assessor. Mike comes from the Glenn Medical Center. Roger owns a number of motels in the area and Steve is in the newspaper advertising business. The Club has a number of additional member prospects in sight with hopes of building the Club to a level that can accomplish even more Rotary goals for the community and beyond.

The Willows Rotary Club meets at noon on Thursdays at the Old 99 Steak house on Tehama street. Contact Vodden at (530) 934-5588 e-101 for more information.
