District Governor Dave Dacus

As we embark on a new Rotary year, I want to begin by thanking every Rotarian in District 5160 for your tremendous efforts in making the 2010-11 year a huge success!! Success breeds success, and all of our accomplishments will be a springboard for another great year for all of our clubs in the year 2011-12.

Utilizing Rotary International President Kalyan Banerjee’s theme, “Reach Within To Embrace Humanity”, we will embody the essence of what we live through Rotary, “Service Above Self”!! That mission is unselfishness at it’s highest level. It’s about giving of our time, efforts and money to make someone’s life better; someone we may never even meet, both in our communities and around the globe. And, the Rotarians of District 5160 do this very well!!

We are beginning the 2nd year of the 3 year Rotary Foundation Future Vision Pilot and the District Foundation Team, led by Past District Governor, Candy Pierce, is working diligently, to assist clubs in the processes of District and Global matching grants. Clubs are implementing some amazing projects and we are anticipating an increase in grant applications as we move into the future.

There are some exciting events coming soon, beginning with the Awards and Installation Dinner, July 9, 2011, at the Rolling Hills Casino, in Corning, CA. It will be an elegant evening where we celebrate our clubs’ achievements of the 2010-11 year and formally induct the
2011-12 Club Presidents and District Leadership. The induction ceremony will be conducted by Past Rotary International President, Cliff Dochterman. Then, October 5-9, 2011, we will celebrate the “Magic of Rotary” during our District Conference, at the beautiful Hyatt Regency Resort and Spa in breathtaking Monterey, CA. It will an enchantment you won’t want to miss!!

This will be a Rotary Year we will all be “Raving” about, as we “Reach Within to Embrace Humanity” and then “Rave On For Rotary”!!!
