Rotary District 5160

Dear Rotary members,

Thank you for the generous gift of dictionaries for my third grade students. I wish each of you could have seen the joy on the faces of the children. The excitement and enthusiasm for learning was instantly contagious. They were amazed by familiar words, and intrigued by new ones.

The dictionaries sparked curiosity and imagination giving these children the power to dream. As I talked with my students, many shared their dreams for the future. They were dreams filled with success and happiness.

Your incredibly generous gift has positively impacted the lives of my students. Today you have truly made a difference... Thank you.

Sincerely,
D. L.

Dear Rotary Club,

On behalf of my third grade students, thank you for the wonderful dictionaries. Whether they know it, or not, this small/large act of generosity will have a profound impact on their young lives, or at least through the remainder of their formal educational lives.

As an instructor and former student, a dictionary is something I have always taken for granted. There has always been at least one or two dictionaries at hand. But for many of these children, a dictionary is not a "given", not a generic household item. It is a luxury. I only wish that members of your fine organization could have been in the classroom the day these wonderful dictionaries were delivered. They too would have experienced the enormous sense of pleasure and joy that filled the classroom that morning. I hope this letter has allowed you to vicariously experience that moment. It was one of those educational moments you treasure for the rest of your life.

Thank you again,
